Preserving Maritime Legacy: The Journey of RNLB Dunleary Restoration

Exciting developments have been underway onboard the ex RNLB Dunleary over the past few weeks! Our dedicated team has been hard at work, tirelessly scraping, sanding, and painting in preparation for yesterday’s special visit by Minister of Heritage Malcolm Noonan, Minister Ossian Smyth, Senator Victor Boylan, Frank Curran CEO of DLRCC, Deirdre Black Heritage Officer of DLRCC, Tim Ryan Operations Manager of DLRCC, and Tom Kivlehan Green Party Councillor.

The esteemed guests were warmly welcomed by our passionate committee members, Brian Comerford, Ken Robertson, Joe Balfe, and JP Hally, who proudly showcased the vessel and shared our ambitious plans to restore her to her former glory. It was an incredible opportunity to demonstrate the remarkable progress we have made thus far.

We are grateful for the support and interest shown by Minister Malcolm Noonan, Minister Ossian Smyth, and all the distinguished attendees. Their visit highlighted the importance of preserving our maritime heritage and provided valuable encouragement to our ongoing efforts.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our journey to revive the Dunleary lifeboat and honour its historical significance. Together, we are making waves in heritage restoration!
